Festival To Bring ¾ Million to Tullamore
8th September 2014
The Tullamore Cannonball Festival weekend is expected to bring a welcome economic boost to the Offaly capital with many people coming to Tullamore and deciding to make a weekend of the festivities. The local organisers have put together an exciting programme of events with limited budget and have gleaned the support of the business community clubbing together to try get a new annual event off the ground.
As the Cannonball event tours Ireland, brand ‘Tullamore’ will receive publicity throughout the country, been heard and seen across national media. Aside from building a positive image of Tullamore as an important Irish destination town, there is a hard and fast financial impact on local business during the weekend itself with a direct spinoff to cafes, restaurants, pubs and local shops. Visitors are expected from around the country and will descend on the town on Sunday with the festival atmosphere building from noon with various events including Soap Box Derby, Street Performance Competition, Kids Activities and live music.
With an estimated 15,000 people spending their hard earned cash in the pubs and restaurants around Tullamore town centre and local accommodation at full capacity the festivities are estimated at over €750,000 to the local economy - more details on http://www.tullamorefestival.com
